Frozen II's world premiere was held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on November 7, 2019, followed by the film's release by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures in the United States on November 22, 2019. The film had the highest all-time worldwide opening for an animated film and went on to gross $1.45 billion worldwide, making it the third highest-grossing film of 2019, the 10th highest-grossing film of all time and the second highest-grossing animated film of all time.[15] The film received generally positive reviews from critics, winning two Annie Awards for Outstanding Achievement for Animated Effects in an Animated Production and Outstanding Achievement for Voice Acting in an Animated Feature Production and a Visual Effects Society Award for Outstanding Effects Simulations in an Animated Feature. At the 92nd Academy Awards, the film received a nomination for Best Original Song for "Into the Unknown".
